I really liked this course. Ben Willmore has an amazing bredth of knowledge about photoshop and really good at explaining it. I admit most of it went over my head as a novice but the gems I did pick up were well worth it. I will have to go back and listen again to catch more but it has really made possible for me to do so much more with my Photoshop that I ever realized I could do.
I can now keep photos that in the past I would have discarded because of problems. I knew Photoshop was able to do a lot, but I now can see me being able to fix those bad photos. When you travel and the only chance to take a photo is in bad light or with people walking into the scene, you can't travel back necessarily to take the photo again. Now I can take out or fix what is unwanted to end up with the photo I was trying to get.
Of particular value to me was the Selection techniques, combined with masking Quick Mask was a revelation! This will save tons of time and greatly expand the type of image processing I'm able to do. Both of these are huge topics by themselves, but there was nothing about them, not even a basic summary. What WAS covered was really excellent - good pace, starting from the basics and working up to some really advanced material - all 5 star stuff.
Being based on CC was a bit of an issue occasionally I'm on CC but did not significantly detract from the material overall. Guess I will have to continue my search for a good Paths tutorial This is an excellent course. Ben is patient and very lucid. He explains very well the complexities of PS. I am so glad I discovered this resource. This instructor is truly an expert but he also has the ability to present material precept by precept so that it make sense to the student.
I've learned so much him Photoshop CC is a powerful application. Given that, it has it's complexities. With a little knowledge one can begin to do reasonable work. To utilize the full power of Photoshop it is best to be taught from an experienced user. I have been using Photoshop for years. I am a self learner that used books on Photoshop to learn.
Still I never learned the powerful techniques and workflows presented by Bill in this course. This course took me to the next level. It is the kind of course that after completing it you will continue to use it as a reference.
I can't rave enthusiastically enough about the excellence of this course. Willmore is exceptionally gifted at communication. His mastery of his subject matter is astonishingly comprehensive. Put together his teaching prowess world class and his subject knowledge who knows more?
Fifteen years ago I started fooling around with Photoshop. I took some internet and other courses, but improvements and changes in the software have run away from me. I signed up for this Photoshop course on Great Courses to catch up and have been blown away by how clearly and precisely Mr.
Willmore brings me as close up to date as possible for the contents of this course. My confidence and comfort in using Photoshop have increased by leaps and bounds. Thank you Mr. I ordered "The Complete Guide" hoping to get the basics in Photoshop, enough to begin using it with more sophistication.
And for the most part, I am getting the basics in concepts and terminology. The first several lessons I have watched, however, have been a bit tedious as the instructor spends more time it seems creating graphic forms than editing photographs.
Maybe this course would be more helpful for budding graphic artists? He also assumes the student already knows some of the concepts he's teaching. Meanwhile, I was hoping for more tutorials in actual photographic post processing. As I am still working my way through the classes, maybe we might get there.
Still, this course is helpful, and I intend to finish watching the classes and perhaps rewatch them to learn the process better. You may pick up some things, but it would be more beneficial for you to take a course specifically on Photoshop Elements.
